Before the Exams: A scene of my room

Written long back but apt for the current situation. . .

My English book lies in a corner dark
As I try hard to make a mark
In my Math paper, practicing hard
Perhaps being cursed by the long dead bards
Geography and Economics are engaged in serious talks
Of how they used to accompany me to walks
History and the Physics have struck up a friendship
They no longer care about the poor G.K’s gossips
Biology, as usual is loudly snoring
The world of dreams, it is busy exploring
Chemistry is trying hard to guess
The formula of the solutions, without making a mess
The quiet Hindi is smiling at everyone
And the noisy art file is trying to grab my attention
The political Science book is watching them all
Lost in thoughts of coping with the downfall
And the poor Math is digesting all the sums
At times I wonder how messy it becomes
That’s ‘before- the- exam’ scene of my room
It stays like that from morning to noon
Be it the ones chatting or the ones taking a nap
All have the same thoughts-
"I had once rested comfortably in her bag!"

Attention Science Aspirants!

(With due apologies to the subject teacher
It’s for fun, I’m no preacher
And to the students, take it with a pinch of salt
Science is really interesting, it’s my fault :P)

All my books lay gathering dust
Studying, as per my rule should not be a must

Physics is something, we do not apply
Since with our practical lives, it doesn’t ply
What happens to a satellite that leaves with escape velocity,
Who really cares, keeping in mind life’s complexity?

Well. . . Chemistry is no better, it ruins our life
To find the formula of its solutions, we have to strive
Metal displacement, disproportionation and God knows which reaction
The lab is worse, we suffer from asphyxiation

Biology is on its way to trouble us all the more
It is a strong reason to sleep and snore
Counting the bones is not my cup of tea
We can’t create humans anyway, so useful it can’t be

Math. .  . Eeeeks, it makes me shout
At its very mention, my head spins round and round
I can see how x+y=z+a is going to help me in life
It is better to plunge your head in water and take a dive

Psychology is busy fathoming brain wiring
Cramming the name of philosophers is so tiring
Why should we know the reason behind fear?
What’s the point of managing emotions, withholding tears?

They’ve even made English a boring subject
No one enjoys studying subject, verb and object
Clauses and modals know how to bore us
While studying tenses, students create a fuss

So you see there’s no point leafing through voluminous books
But alas! We have to pass the exams by hook or by crook!

That's Delhi

Where roads offer a bumpy ride
Where Laburnums bloom on the sides
Where the night guard whistles and calls out your name
Where the mornings and the nights- all are the same
Where animals trudge in the middle of the road
Where each man carries other’s load
Where the Qutub Minar stands, tall and grand
Where baraats dance on the roads to the blares of a band
Where the flea markets bustle with activities
Where you can savor Dosas, Bhelpuris, Burgers and Littis
Where vendors in your ears cry
Where a splash of colors greet the eye
Where it rains cats and dogs
Where winters are marked by dense fog
Where summers mean ice- creams at night
Where the many gardens make for a wonderful sight
Where the heavy traffic has always been a problem
Where there are a thousand ways to beat boredom
Where at every nook and corner, there’s a story to be told
That's Delhi, my friend, a sight to behold!
